Jazz history broadcasting

Despite working long hours on the larger architectural and planning projects described elsewhere, Pem found time to complete a Broadcaster’s Certification. Such was his dedication to his passion for music.

Pem has had several years of radio broadcasting experience. Firstly for 2-RRR where he got his certificate, then broadcasting at 2-RES Sydney (1995 -1996), and later at Canberra at 2-SSS (1997 – 1998).

‘Sound of Jazz’ broadcasts

Pem put together a series of 30 programs of compilations of 20th Century Jazz for 2RES in Sydney in 1995.

These weekly two hour programs were for jazz aficionados and required considerable preparation for the well-informed and discerning audiences.

Pem prepared 30 such programs. Here are links to three samples of the individual programs – Destination Kansas City, Atlantic Crossing and The Double Bass containing the introductions and a selected sample from each of the three programs.

Whether you are an avid jazz lover interested in learning more about jazz history, or know little about jazz but are interested to discover more, I hope you will enjoy these compilations.

Destination Kansas City

For some time I had wanted to dig into the Kansas City Jazz scene since it seems to be neglected by default New Orleans, Chicago and New York receiving the lion’s share of attention.

Atlantic Crossing
