Duos – OPUS2

OPUS 2 (2006 -2010 ) Sydney

Duos are readily formed from the larger groups for a variety of occasions, as indicated below, but the story here is about OPUS 2 (2006 – 2010) with Pem on Tenor Sax and Piano and Paul on Guitar.

Pem teamed up with Paul Nikotin to form OPUS 2 – a multi instrumental duo with a repertoire drawn from jazz and popular standards. It offered a wide ranging versatility normally reserved associated with larger combos by its use of bass and percussion presets.

Originally forming in 1990 as RPM Trio and later as Quattro Jazz, it found its critical mass as a duo and remained active in the Sydney music scene for 20 years.

Listen to OPUS 2 playing some of my favourite tracks:

It Could Happen to You – Jimmy Van Heusen and Johnny Burke
Autumn Leaves – Joseph Kosman
Things Ain’t What They Used To Be – Mercer Ellington
